Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, has created what the State Commissioner for Commerce/Industry, Barr. Chuma Chinye, described as the 24th Local Government Area of Rivers State. The new ‘local government’ is the Non-Indigene political pressure Group (NIPPG) in APC Rivers which, according to Barr. Chinye, is to protect the political interests of the over 1.5 million non-indigenes residing in Rivers State.

Barr. Chinye the Political Leader of NIPPG, who hails from Delta State, affirmed the need to set up this structure – the first of its type in any part of Nigeria – saying that it is in keeping with the antecedents of Gov. Amaechi as a great leader whose patriotism is legendary and qualifies him as a true nationalist. In short, he is the hero and hope of the non indigenes in Rivers State if the ways he has carried the non indigenes along in his administration are anything to go by, Barr Chinye affirms.

The commissioner noted that Governor Amaechi has a history of giving non-indigenes a sense of belonging, as reflected in the composition of the State Executive Council. He pointed out that, apart from himself, several other non-indigenes such as Mr. Ade Adeogun from Ekiti State, who mans the powerful Sanitation Authority of Rivers Sate, and Mr. David Iyofor, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, who is from Delta State, are holding key positions in the Amaechi administration.

A crow and a seagull attacked two white doves released by children standing next to Pope Francis on Sunday at St. Peter's Square. The birds of prey swooped down after the "peace" doves flew from the open window in the Apostolic Palace.

One dove broke free from the gull, after losing a few feathers in the fray. A crow pecked the other before both doves escaped and flew away. Their ultimate fate is unknown.
Thankfully, the Pope and children had walked away before the fly-by birding.
Doves as Judeo-Christian symbols of peace date back to biblical times. In the Book of Genesis, a dove returns to the ark-maker Noah with an olive branch, letting him know that the flood had receded..

Justin Bieber was charged with drunken driving, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license after police saw the pop star street racing early Thursday morning, Miami Beach police said.

"What the f*** did I do? Why did you stop me?" Bieber asked the police officer who pulled him over just after 4 a.m., according to the arrest report.

Bieber, 19, was released from a Miami jail an hour after he made a brief appearance through a video link before a Miami judge, who set a "standard" $2,500 bond Thursday afternoon.

He strutted out of the jail dressed in black, with a baggy hoodie covering his head. His pants appeared to be baggy leather. Bieber briefly sat on top of a black Cadillac Escalade, where he waved to screaming fans, before he was chauffeured away.

An 11-year-old Illinois girl was stabbed 40 times by her 14-year-old sister, police say, and the reason why has many in the small Chicago-area community of Mundelein reeling in disbelief.

Police found the 11-year-old girl unconscious and in need of medical attention in an upstairs bedroom of the dwelling Tuesday morning. She later died.

Because the sister, who called police, initially told officers an intruder was to blame for the attack, authorities briefly placed three schools on lockdown.

The truth, when it emerged, was even more shocking.

The 14-year-old, authorities say, repeatedly and fatally stabbed the victim -- her half sister -- with a kitchen knife because the teen thought she was ungrateful.

"This incident is a heartbreaking tragedy that defies understanding," said Mundelein Mayor Steve Lentz. "I am asking the Chicagoland area, please pray for us. Pray, first of all, for the family that has been devastated by this."

The Imam of Federal College of Technology, Yaba Mosque, Imam Saeed Salmon has said that contrary to some belief by Muslims, Islam also subscribes to the widely held Christian belief that Jesus Christ will return in what has been described as his ‘second coming’, emphasising that any Muslim, who does not believe in it, is not a true follower of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Salmon, who spoke at a special lecture held at the Lagos Central Mosque, Tinubu, said Jesus is a messenger of God and would still return to a mosque in Damascus.

“The second coming of Jesus Christ is a doctrine that every Muslim must believe. The teachings of Prophet Muhammad talks extensively about this.

“The Qua’ ran Chapter 4:157-159 teaches this but the teachings of Islam does not support that Jesus was killed or resurrected, rather, he was raised by Almighty Allah to his majesty.

“Jesus is coming again to refute the claim of the Jews that he was crucified and to correct the doctrine of the Christians that he is the son of God..

The National Automotive Council (NAC) says Nigerians would soon be able to purchase brand new made in Nigeria cars for as low as N1.2 million. This is even as there are no standard foundry and forge companies with capacity to manufacture engine blocks and the Ajaokuta Steel Company is still in comatose. But NAC said it was working on the new National Automotive Industry Development Plan.

In addition, the agency said government would collaborate with auto manufacturers, franchise holders, reputable motor dealers and selected banks to put in place an all-inclusive domestic dealership network through which a user-friendly vehicle purchase scheme could be funded by the National Automotive Council.

“Under market development, the NAIDP anticipated that higher-end expensive models will still be imported into the country in the initial stage, but the new strategy is to encourage local auto manufacturers to focus primarily on lower-end less expensive models with price range of between N1.2m and N1.5m; which is affordable to the middle class, coupled with other finance options.”..

Lawyers Protest In Rivers Over Non-Appointment Of Substantive CJ

The series of protests rocking Rivers State continued on Thursday when scores of lawyers took to the streets of Port Harcourt, the state capital, to stage a demonstration over the failure of Governor Rotimi Amaechi to appoint a substantive Chief Judge for the state.

The lawyers, who converged on the main gate of the State High Court under the auspices of the Forum of Concerned Lawyers of The Nigerian Bar Association, Port Harcourt Branch, said the absence of a chief judge in the state was hindering the dispense of justice in Rivers.

The lawyers, who expressed concern over the continued absence of a substantive chief judge in the state, gathered at the State High Court premises around 7.20am, chanting solidarity songs against the state government.
